Charles Raymond Haslam ( 1880-1962)
Charles' paternal grandfather was John Ely Haslam, who died just a year after the birth of Charles' father, Charles was apparently under the assumption his grandfather's name was James. Here's a letter Charles wrote to determine if he was related to Pony Bob Haslam.
It's certainly something I'll pursue. It's interesting that he believed his grandfather traveled (mostly by foot) to Tennessee to see his brother. The current governor of Tennessee is Bill Haslam. I wonder if there's some connection there.
I'll put up a fuller biography on Charles Haslam soon, but in the meantime here are some facts and photos.
Charles grew up in the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence, R.I., and remained a faithful parishioner of the Church of the Messiah throughout his life. He served as chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island for 26 years.

Charles graduated from Brown University in 1902 and from Harvard Law School in 1906.
Charles married Florence Newall, also from Olneyville, in 1916. They had four daughters: Ruth, Dorothy, Elizabeth (Betty) and Nancy. They lived at 132 Everett Avenue in Providence.
Charles had his law office in the Turks Head Building in Providence, R.I.
He was one of the early founders of the Plum Beach Association, and he was an avid gardener there. Their house was on Hillside Avenue.
Charles' parents were Sarah Alice Gibson and John Albert Haslam, shown below with Charles' daughter Ruth.
